Introduction:
It is our first duty to perform gaya Pind Daan Puja at Gaya Ji Dham for our parents because Pind Daan at Gaya Ji is being done since the time of Satya Yuga. When we come to this world, we have three duties – Dev Debt, Rishi Debt and Pitra Debt. So we are indebted to our parents and our ancestors. We have been brought up by them. Whatever we have is because of our ancestors. So, by performing Pind Daan at Gaya Ji, we clear our Pitra Debt and by performing Pind Daan at Gaya Ji, we get the blessings of our ancestors. That is why we are in Gaya Ji Dham. After coming, one must definitely perform the Pind Daan as per the rituals prescribed by the ancestors.
Step By Step Gaya Pind Daan Vidhi & Procedure
To Complete the Pind Daan rituals in Gaya Dham properly devotees need to perform the pind daan shradh and tarpan at three and 45 main sacred locations ( vedis) in a specific order.
- Fhalgu River : If you perform the fhalgu river pind daan in gaya , whether its at three or 45 vedis , the worship begins with the fhalgu river . the fhalgu river originates from the feet of sriman narayan , we also call it fhalgu ganga.
- Vishnupad Temple : When we perform pind daan in fhalgu river , then the second most important shrine for pind daan is vishnupad temple . if you do not complete the pind daan at the sacred feet of sriman narayan vishnupad temple ,then your gaya pind daan shradh remains incomplete according to our shaastras.
- Akshayavat tree : We also call the akshayvat tree as sakshi vat, who perform pind daan puja at fhalgu river and vishnupad temple the third shradh has to be complete at the akshayvat tree only, gaya ji akashyavat ji has been blessed by god bramha ji it is believed that whoever perform pind daan here for their ancestors ensure that their souls never have to face hell and the donation made under this eternal tree becomes immortal and is never destroyed, then one must definitely perform pind daan under the akshyvat tree.
Important and List of 45 Vedis For Gaya ji Pind Daan
According to the ancient vedic puranas. there were originally 360 sacred pind daan sites ( vedis) in gaya dham . over time 45 vedis remains active and highly performing shradh rituals. devotees who wish to perform the detailed 17 days vrihad shradh visit all these 45 holy places to completly liberate their ancestors from the cycle of birth and death
Here is the list of some of the most famous and highly visited vedis amoung the 45 holy sites in gaya ji.
1. fhalgu river : The first pind daan puja start from the fhalgu river
2. panchtirthi vedi: We call panchtirthi vedi the meeting place of five polgrimage sites. which included vedis utar manash vedi , kankhal vedi, surykund, dakshinmanash etc.
3. vishnupad temple : vishnupad temple are very important vedis as it has 16 pillars for offering pind daan puja and is also the resons sriman narayan foot print.
4. pretshilla ( प्रेत शिला) : crucial for relieving souls from unnatural or sudden deaths.
5. akshyawat tree (अक्षय वट वृक्ष ) : the immortal tree where the final pind daan rituals completed.
6. sita kund ( सीता कुंड ) : in sita kund mata sita had offerd pind daan puja to raja dashrath ji. raja dashrath hand is also visible here.
7. Kagbali ( कागबली ) : those who donate the pind daan for three days should got to the kaagbali alter and after that they should not feed the crows during shradh at home.

1 Days or 3-Day General Shradh Cost ( एक या तीन दिन की सामान्य पिंड दान पूजा खर्च ) :
Most of the people come to gayaji for one days or three days. to perform pind daan ( which included fhalgu river , vishnupad temple , and akshayvat tree). one day pind daan perform as per your capacity in which include only pind daan puja samagri and pandit dakshina. for the three days pind daan rituals done in 45 place and the process remain similar, but the cost depend entirely on your capcity. but there is one extra expense is auto only for one day you have to go pret shila , ram shila , sita kund etc.
17 Day Brihad Shradh Cost ( 17 दिन की बड़ी पिंडदान पूजा का खर्च ) :
In Gaya ji dham, there is vrihad pind daan shradh of 17 days , we also call it parwan shradh in gaya. there is special importance of doing the usual rituals ( like sayyadaan , cow daan , vastra paatra donation etc, ) this shradh cost more than other pind daan puja but its popularit and benefit are considered to be many times more. In our scriptures ,many people do the vrihad pind daan shradh of 17 days in gaya.
What Is Included In The Cost?
When i provide you total expenses or cost for completing pind daan , its includes the following things so that devotee not face any hidden charges leter.
- Complete Puja Samagri: All puja items required for the rituals,( barley flour ,jau ka aata ,til, jau, honey, akshat, ganga jal, kusha graas , tamba or pital patra, roli, kimkum,kalawa, prasaad , tulshi ji, chandan , etc).
