The Phalgu river in Gaya is considered the holiest river in the whole world. It has been said in our scriptures that all the holy rivers in this world come to meet the Phalgu river, we also call it Phalgu Ganga and also Gupt Ganga, this river has emerged from the feet of Lord Vishnu. By taking bath in it and by seeing it and by tarpan our ancestors get salvation. And many of our lives also end. During the time of Satya Yug its name was Niranjana, Mahanjana, Madhnushrwa. Its meaning is that it used to flow in the form of milk, honey and ghee but when Ram Chandra ji was leaving from Gaya after completing the time of his vanvaash , his father Raja Dashrath ji had an oracle and Ram Chandra ji heard his father’s voice that son Ramm, when you are leaving from Gaya then do my also Pind Daan Puja Shradda. Then Ram Chandra ji told mother Sita that you sit here, I am coming with the material for Pind Daan Puja. When evening came, Dashrath ji went again and said that Sita you are my cremation then Mata said that can I perform your last rites as a woman alone, she said yes if you can then Mata made a last rites of her hair and performed the last rites where she was sitting, then Dashrath ji got freedom but Mata had said on 5th as proof that when Ramchandra ji comes back then you all should tell him that I have performed father-in-law’s last ritesI have performed the Pind Daan, when Ramji came, mother said that I have performed the Pind Daan of father-in-law and asked the Phalgu river if this is true, then Phalgu river lied that I did not see it, then mother came in anger and cursed her, you will become internal shalila, in tomorrow you will turn into sand, then we will see that we see sand in the Phalgu river.
